Octopyd officially started in Jan 2021 and the website was launched on Jan 2nd 2024 from the co-founder Mahshid Fardadi’s living room. But the story started much earlier than that, when Mahshid was working in an Engineering firm. Mahshid's outstanding networking skills made her the center of attention whenever her employer was looking for new hires. Her employer, frustrated with recruiters' performance and fees, asked her to find qualified candidates for the company's open positions.
She introduced and convinced a few of her former classmates/colleagues/friends to quit their jobs and join DMF. The CEO was so happy with the quality of the hires that decided to pay her "Referral Bonus" for each of the hires. Her employer never stopped asking for referrals, even after she moved to UCLA to pursue her MBA degree. However, her tasks got harder as she was receiving job descriptions in fields unrelated to her knowledge and expertise. That is when her MBA-induced idea of starting OCTOPYD kicked in. She outsourced her tasks to professionals with the right skillset, knowledge, and experience. She compensated them for their services.
Together with her co-founders, they tuned & improved the process on excel sheets, tested the proposed approach for possibility of scale-up, grew their network of Subject Matter Experts in different fields, and finally, developed and launched the OCTOPYD website.
